Cookie Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This policy explains how Help Grow Your Business ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information in general.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work properly, to remember your preferences, and to give the website owner information about how the site is being used. Similar technologies — such as local storage and tracking pixels — work in a comparable way, and this policy covers those too.

2. How we ask for your consent

When you first visit this website, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can:

  • Accept All — allow all cookie categories;
  • Reject Non-Essential — allow only the essential cookies the site needs to function; or
  • Manage your preferences — switch each category on or off individually.

Your choice is stored on your device so we do not need to ask you again on every visit. You can change your mind at any time (see section 6). Non-essential cookies are not set unless you have given your consent.

3. The cookies we use

Essential cookies and storage (always active)

These are needed for the website to work and cannot be switched off. They include:

  • Cookie consent preference — stored in your browser's local storage under the name hgyb-cookie-consent-v1. It simply remembers which cookie categories you agreed to, so we do not show you the banner again. It contains no personal information about you and is never sent to us.
  • Security and session cookies — a small number of strictly necessary cookies used to keep the website secure. These are set only when you sign in to the administration area of the site.

Analytics cookies (set only with your consent)

If you consent to analytics, we use the following third-party services to understand how visitors use the site. The data they collect is used in aggregate to improve the website — we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not try to.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) — sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to collect information about which pages you visit, how long you spend on the site, your approximate location (country/city level), and your device and browser type. Google Analytics cookies are set to expire after a maximum of 13 months. Google may transfer this data outside the UK; it is protected by Google's standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the UK–US Data Bridge.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — records how visitors interact with pages (for example scrolling, taps and mouse movement) in an anonymised form, to help us see which parts of the site are useful or confusing. Clarity masks all text and numbers it records and never captures passwords or form inputs you type.
  • Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Ltd) — a tag management service (container GTM-5W89N2VS) that we use to load and control the analytics tools described above from one place. It runs only when you have given analytics consent, and any cookies associated with it are set by the analytics tools it loads, such as Google Analytics. It does not collect personal information about you in its own right. A small non-executing fallback is included in the page for browsers with JavaScript disabled.

Marketing cookies (none currently in use)

We do not currently run any advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies on this website. If we ever add advertising cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Third-party embeds

Our Contact page embeds a booking calendar from Calendly. If you interact with the calendar, Calendly may set its own cookies under its own cookie and privacy policies. We do not control those cookies; if you prefer to avoid them, you can contact us directly by email or phone instead.

4. Why we use cookies and our lawful basis

  • Essential cookies — used in our legitimate interests to keep the website working and secure. Consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies.
  • Analytics cookies — used only with your consent (UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations ("PECR") require consent for non-essential cookies). You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Marketing cookies — none in use; consent would be required before any were set.

5. Do cookies collect personal information?

Analytics cookies collect pseudonymised information about your browsing session — pages viewed, approximate location, device type. On their own these records do not tell us who you are, and we do not combine them with the contact details you send us through the enquiry form. For more on how analytics data is handled, see sections 2 and 5 of our Privacy Policy.

6. How to change or withdraw your consent

You can withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time in either of these ways:

  • Clear your browser's stored data (cookies and site data) for this website — the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit, letting you make a new choice.
  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. All major browsers let you do this; your browser's help pages explain how. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites (including parts of this one) function.

If you withdraw consent, the analytics services will stop being fed new data from your device from that point, though analytics providers may retain data already collected under their own retention policies.
